You've decided you need a new barn.. Where do you start?
Every barn or Building must have a building permit. Any structure over 100 square feet whether it be a dog house , chicken coop or shed you are required to pull a permit. If you are on a property that you think will be able to have an Ag Exempt permit you will still need to submit the Ag Exempt application. Check with your county to find out their rules regulations , your properties set backs , if you are in a flood plane etc. This will take f the frustration of finding out surprise fees or restrictions later. **This will be a great time to inquire also as to the build design Criteria.. Snow & Wind Load. Be prepared to give your APN ( Assessor Parcel Number)number to get specific details and make sure you write down who you spoke with.** Design! Now we can start designing! We will need to know what YOU are looking for . We have built hundreds of barns. Not 2 are exactly alike! Every client has specific needs, tastes and desires. Please consider and Share the following information with your designer. 1. How many animals, type and size are you housing? 2. Do you have specific needs such as Mare/ Foal Stalls or Stallion Stalls? 3.What type of Storage requirements do you need? Such as Tack, Feed, Shavings , Carts, Etc 4.What are your horses temperament. Do you allow them to socialize and interact with one another. Or is this a boarding situation where you may not have knowledge of dominance issues or health background on each animal. 5. Do you want access to rear paddocks or runs? 6. Are you looking to build a show place or something that is functional with low Maintenance. Budget. Every client has a budget whether it be small or large. Knowing a general budget that you can afford helps us determine weather your expectations are realistic or if we need to find alternative designs to help achieve your desired goal. Financing? Share this need with the designer. Most of the time we can help locate possible sources of financing. Timeline- An HONEST timeline is 10-12 weeks from signing the Contract with the deposit to Build date. HOWEVER, a big variable here in California is the Permit time frame. There are some Counties that fly though in a week or two. And then there are some that average 6 months. We have no control over this portion of the process. Please feel free to Contact us at 855-810-2276 if we can be of further assistance. We would love the opportunity to design and build your dream barn

Kelly LandryLiterally Raised in A barn. My parents moved to Cottonwood Ca from Sky Forrest in 1971.. They purchased a piece of property and we lived in the barn ( made of WWII Ammunition boxes ), while my dad built the house. So Yes I was raised in a barn and now I design and sell barns as our business. I have been riding horses since before I could walk . Horses are my life's passion; combining my construction background and my passion for horses... win , win. ArchivesCategories |
